SADAF - STILLNESS

STILLNESS is the third HOSS single from New York based producer SADAF. "Stillness" turns the dembow riddim inside-out, a frantic synthesis of jungle, footwork, and warp-speed ragga capturing stillness amid chaos: a surrender to the overwhelming, calm within a storm. Layers of heaving beats breathe in and out as a cacophony of vocals and spoken word decorate the dense soundscape in a manner simultaneously confrontational and soothing, enveloping the listener within a poetic narrative that terminates with a heartbeat: as the song ends, the laid-bare heartbeat emerges through the frenetic wall of sound. Constantly wavering between abstraction and lyricism, Stillness contemplates the disparate emotional  affects inherent in noise, speech, and silence.
